olives under occupation

By admin On November 8, 2009 Under Olive

What happens to Palestinian Olive trees after they are uprooted by the Israel? Taufik retune to his land four years after his olive trees have been uprooted. Badar speaks of the thousands dollars he and his family lost as a result of the tree uprooting and Akram tells about the uprooting of 300 trees some of them hundreds of years old. Palestinian Arab Olive oil production was at peak levels in 2006, at 34000 tons which was, if I understand correctly, more tons than any year on record. It’s particularly interesting considering the first farmer in this video says his trees were stolen 4 years ago and the complaint at 6:18 has the year 2005. So you want me to believe all these trees were being stolen the year before the Palestinians had their best year of oil production ever? I have a bridge to sell you….

Imagemill, the world bank statistics and the articles about peak olive oil production were specifically about Arab Palestinians. All you have to do is a quick internet search to confirm this. To reiterate, the area of Palestinian Arab olive cultivation has almost doubled in “recent years” according to the world bank.

MrsEener – the Israelis are amazing farmers, they provide europe with vast percentages of their vegetable consumption. They also grow olives, thats the point, they take the palestinians trees and replant them, and harvest them using state of the art facilities, all partially funded by the $3 billion ’security’ fund grant from the US. Please give up your ranting, and learn something about the country first.

The world bank says the area of olive cultivation expanded from an estimated 520,000 dunums to over 900,000 in recent years. Articles in 2006 say that olive oil production had reached “peak levels.” Wow, Israel is doing a hell of a good job destroying all those olive trees. Almost as good a job as the genocide everyone keeps accusing them of, with the Palestinian population exploding at a higher rate than almost anywhere else in the world. Those Israelis are amazing to achieve such feats.

It is funny. So funny the Arabs are laughing at you useful international saps that travel all the way there just to do their (literally) dirty work for them. Under your protection, they are expanding their olive groves closer and closer to the Jewish communities as both a land grab and effort to create facts on the ground. If the IDF removed orchards with huge trees, of course they will bulldoze these small saplings. But the Arabs know the Israelis are unlikely to do a damn thing about it.

Sorry, I didn’t notice it said the trees were transplanted. Every year, they come out with new olive tree libels against the evil Jews. It’s hard to keep track. This latest one involves the Israelis using their army, that obviously has nothing better to do, help the greedy Jews steal the trees. At 3:31, I can distinctly see 6 or maybe 7 large branches coming out of what has to be a huge trunk. At 3:33 you can see the base of the tree at the right is humongous. These are not young trees.

also at 7:35 these are trees that where uprooted and transplanted to Israeli orchards, stolen sold and relocated, you should watch the film properly with open heart, at 3:30 the trees are too young to be cut down to such level, some of them might survive though.

this is so ridiculous its funny, its so nice of the israeli soldiers to dedicate their time to pruning poor oppressed palestinian farmers, i give you 10 out of 10 for positive thinking though :) they usually take half to full day to remove trees which they sell at very profitable prices, or simply bulldoze the area, it doesnt take long for bulldozers to sweep through an orchard, Ive been there with jewish peace activist friends who helped farmers plant new trees. peace!

Wow! Gullible? You speak falsely maybe to carry out your own agenda. So be it. God knows. And God is watching. Anyone living there in the midst of the occupation knows the truth. Shame on you!

I have also been there. You are gullible. If so many trees are being uprooted, then why are most trees in the pictures/videos only pruned, and not uprooted? And how can the Israelis remove 300 big trees in just a few hours? Of course they don”t hurt the rest of the tree when they prune it. What would be the point of that? They prune them and then make sad videos filled with lies and libel to show to gullible people who know nothing about olive trees.

The TRUTH is that these trees are being uprooted at an alarming rate so to quickly put up ILLEGAL Israeli settlements. This sickens Palestinians deep in their heart. For some it is their life’s work. When purchasing wood items made from the trees, that which is being pruned to better the tree, is used for their crafts. They NEVER hurt the rest of the tree. In this video the trees are being destroyed for more Israeli development. I’ve been there. Many have been there. Speak truth!

For peace, both sides need to show respect and effort. I don’t think most Israelis would support such activity. What is the purpose? Is it to rile Palestinians to attack so Israel has an excuse to kill them? Why not purchase the land or trees if you want them? This is premeditated unkindness, not where emotions were at play and someone re acted without thinking. Israel should take responsibility to set the situation right. A thief is a thief and should be held accountable. It was aggressive.

Most of the olive trees in the video were just pruned, not uprooted. See for example 3:30 and 7:35. They prune them like that to keep the trees short for easy harvesting.

And what’s with the guy who says at 3:15 he was in his orchard in the evening and the next morning 300 “big big” olive trees were gone. The Israelis must have wands like in Harry Potter “Accio Olive tree!”

Go ahead and delete my comment. It doessn’t change the truth.
